Sliding Glass Pet Door Installation
The Pet Door Design system is simple in concept but requires an installation professional to measure and install our product.
Getting started
Click on Quick Order Guide. Take a look at the sizing requirements for standard sized and optional oversized conversion inserts. To determine if your insert is standard or over-sized, make a quick measure of your existing door. Its easily done from the outside, and does not need to be exact. Check out options and standard features. Call us if you have questions.
Click on Sizing Your Pet Opening. Follow the suggestions for selecting the right size pet opening and rise. Rise is the step-over height from inside the home. Your patio doors frame thickness and carpet depth determines the actual rise. Most standard vinyl and aluminum framed doors will have a minimum of 5 to 6 rise after installation, and will work well for most pets. We provide increased rise in 2 increments at +2 and +4 if required. Note: French railed doors have thicker bottom panels and can add 2" to 3" to the values noted above. Ask your installer to measure 3 above the glazing pocket of your doors frame (your existing glass sits in the glazing pocket). This will give you your minimum rise when installed.
Measure and Installation
Measuring for the conversion system takes just a few minutes. The installer notes the width, height and thickness of the existing glass, and makes a few notes about your door. Its also a good time to confirm the pet opening and any options you may have selected.
Installation takes just a few minutes. The existing glass is removed and stored in a safe place.
The Pet Door Design insert slips into the space created by removing the old glass. The unit is secured just like the existing glass. It is both solid and attractive.
